Awareness of all things information/computer security, where does it start. Not in opinion pieces in the computer press I wager, but that is one of the key places it should be. I was reading an opinion piece in a recent Computer Weekly bemoaning the IT department and its resistance to smart ‘phones. The main issue, as the opinion piece writer saw it, was that these new smart ‘phones upset the status quote of the IT department and its use of Microsoft applications. No mention was made that it is for many companies to early to contemplate a move of their applications “into the cloud” because of a lack of tenable security, lack of service level agreements and little or no data protection act compliance. Obviously an opinion piece is intended to engender discussion, but it would be nice to see some acknowledgement of the information security dimension. Discuss.
