19-01-2010 10:01If you are in or associated with the Information Security industry you will doubtless know the name of Howard Schmidt, a past President of the ISSA. Schmidt has just been appointed the new White House Cyber Security Coordinator and in that role a number of priorities have been set by President Obama covering such areas as a comprehensive strategy to secure US networks. But what is more interesting is that included in the priorities is the development of a national campaign to promote Cyber security awareness and education. As Schmidt said in his video, which you will find on the Whitehouse Blog site, “… when it comes to Cyber Security our vulnerabilities are shared…”
I and my friends and colleagues at ISAF will watch with interest what unfolds in America and as well as looking for both cooperative and parallel activities here in the UK.
