What features influenced your purchase?
Ability to provide centralised an secure control of customer workstation base.
Stability of agent on workstations.
How easy was it to use?
Intially the product looks very straightforward to manage, however underneath the hood it is a very complicated system to keep finely tuned and running smoothly.
What was the best feature about the product?
Security Manager gives the support team the ability to deploy security patches based upon Policy. When security patches are released from one of the major vendors covered by the LANDesk product, LANDesk automatically package up the security patch ready for deployment. This increased the ability of the company to deploy smoothly and efficiently.
Was there anything that could be improved?
Reporting features are still very weak, however this is due to be addressed in LANDesk version 9.0 which is planned to be released in Q3 2009.
General Overview:
If LANDesk is configured correctly from the start, it can be configured to become an invaluable toolset in centralised workstation management.
It can also be configured to manage USB ports, and detect rogue workstations on the network.
